Police handed out dozens of fines and issued defect notices for more than 20 cars in the latest incident on an industrial road off Cormorant Drive.

A large convoy of car enthusiasts gathered there before heading into Nobbys Beach car park.

More than 600 people were herded from the same area a week earlier.

Senior police will develop a solution with the Newcastle Port Corporation and Newcastle council, which might involve making parts of the island no-go zones for all traffic.
