Northern NSW Football's under-12s Emerging Jets team will proudly wear the iconic blue and red when they travel to Japan this Saturday to compete in the Saitama International Junior Football Tournament.

The tournament was established in 2002 to promote international exchange and cultural experience.

It is a key part of Northern NSW Football's Talented Player Pathway.

Newcastle's youth will participate in a pre-tournament training camp and play five matches before returning home on July 29.

The youngsters will also serve as ambassadors for the four AFC Asian Cup Australia 2015 matches to be staged in Newcastle in January, including Japan's opening match.
