Many boats took the opportunity to head far and wide.
Seal rocks was high on the list of many and it was worth the trip.
Snapper in the six-kilogram bracket were caught around Edith Breaker.
There have also been some good snapper around Broughton Island and off Boat Harbour. If you are looking for something a little closer to home, the reefs off Redhead have been producing some pan-sized snapper and bream.
Now is the time to be heading out to the 500-meter line in search of bass groper and other deep water species.
There was a number of blue marlin out there last week, no doubt looking for a jellybean yellowfin tuna.
Lake Macquarie has benefited from the winter season with some nice pan-sized snapper around Pulbah Island.
Once again finding bait fish has been key.
