But after hearing of one Lake Macquarie school’s need for books they made an exception and declared Speers Point Public School “an outback location for one day”.
Books 4 Outback organiser Ross Lane said the self-funded charity unanimously decided to help Speers Point Public School restock their library’s shelves after it suffered storm damage.

“People have donated very generously to our cause but we felt this was a worthy cause as well.”
Books 4 Outback have delivered over 100 cartons of books to small rural Australian towns in two trips this year and delivered six cartons of books to Speers Point Public School on Friday. They are looking for volunteers. Call Ross Lane on 0413 138 746 to help.
