A Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) spokesperson said the NSW Government provided $1.3 million this financial year to maintain the strength and capacity of the iron lattice bridge.

“Work started in March last year to upgrade the bridge, ensuring its strength and capacity well into the future,” the spokesperson said.

“The first stage of work which involved replacing the timber approach spans was completed in September last year.

“The second stage of major maintenance work which involves replacing timber decking and support structures under the bridge is now being carried out.”

To carry out this work a full bridge closure is required for up to five days.

The bridge will be closed from 6.30am on Friday, February 3, to 6pm on Tuesday, February 7, weather permitting.

During the closure motorists will be detoured via Kayuga Road and Blairmore Lane to the north or via Wybong and Bengalla Road through Bengalla to the south.

Work is also being carried out during the week between 6am and 5pm and on some Saturdays between 8am and 1pm and is expected to be completed late in March, weather permitting.

Changed traffic conditions including single lane closures and a temporary reduced 40 km/h speed limit will continue to be in place.

Roads and Maritime will inform the community in advance of any changes to changed traffic conditions and thanks the community for their patience while this essential upgrade is carried out.
