The Port Stephens councillor, who ran for the NSW seat of Port Stephens in 2015, completed an application for the vacant position left by Mr Gallacher, joining a race to replace the former frontbencher that is understood to comprise nine Liberals
Mr Jordan declined to comment on the Liberal party nomination, which closed on Thursday afternoon.
Further attempts to contact Karen Howard, the former Newcastle state and Paterson federal candidate who the Herald reported as nominating to fill the upper house vacancy, were unsuccessful.
The field of potential candidates to fill the Liberals’ upper vacancy is also said to include former federal member for Dobell Karen McNamara, who is backed by the party’s right faction, and this month’s defeated Gosford by-election candidate Jilly Pilon.
