But lifelong Newcastle friends Nicole Isaac and Sophie Scully believe you cannot go past flowers for the perfect present.
“Flowers are timeless,” Ms Scully said. “Who doesn’t love receiving blooms.”
The Newcastle women have just launched Oh So Pretty, an online store that retails personalised flower boxes.
“We aimed to launch on an iconic day of the year and originally planned that day to be Valentine’s Day,” Ms Scully said. “We didn’t quite feel ready, as we wanted to launch properly – with everything in place.
“We then thought about how perfect it would be to launch on Mother’s Day instead as it is such a special day to gift all the wonderful women in one’s life.”
Their website is now taking pre-orders for Mother’s Day and they will hold a pop-up flower cart at Charlestown Square from May 3-7 to show their product and take orders.
Their launch is on May 13 at Salon Society in King Street.
