Mr Leeks is a member of the Hunter Prostate Cancer Support Group, which meets monthly to help inform and support men in the region.
“Every father’s day is crucial to us and every one you appreciate a bit more,” Mr Leeks said.
The group meets on the second Tuesday of the month and Mr Leeks said “it’s a way of keeping up to date with what is happening”.
It is also a chance to share experiences and hear from guest speakers.
Bar Beach’s Brad Scott was diagnosed with prostate cancer four years ago and found the group to be “incredibly good value”.
