Lake Macquarie City Council is asking residents to look into their crystal balls and think about the sort of city they want to be living in, come 2050.
Better footpaths and cycleways, more transport options, apartment living, a diversified economy and vibrant town centres are some of the ideas up for discussion but we want to cast a wide net and hear from our community about all the things that are important to them.
Council has already gathered from consultation over the past year a bank of knowledge about our community’s aspirations and expectations for the future. Now, we are going back to the community with our Lake Mac 2050 engagement campaign to further refine that vision.
If you are interested in helping to shape the future of Lake Macquarie, jump onto the web portal at shape.lakemac.com.au/LM2050 and have a look at the interactive map and video that provide a glimpse into the future. You can then submit your comments and ideas.
There will also be opportunities to talk to staff about the project at the following pop-up stalls: Toronto Lions Markets, 17 September; Living Smart Festival at Speers Point, 23 September; Swansea Markets, 23 September; Morisset Markets, 7 October. Consultation is open until 20 October 2017.
