Did you know that almost one-third of our population in Lake Macquarie is over 55?
Times have certainly changed over the past generation, and where once someone who was in their mid 50s was likely to either be retired or in the final years of their working lives, these days people are continuing to work until much later and lead very active and involved lives in all aspects of their community. Those Baby Boomers who have been at the heart of so much social change over their lifetimes are reinventing the way we do retirement and ageing. The council is responding to these changes by developing an Over 55s Strategy to set our direction for the next four years. Contribute to strategy discussion, or find out more, at shape.lakemac.com.au/over55s-strategy.
Lake Macquarie City Council is making it easier for pet owners to comply with regulations with the launch of a service that brings our free microchipping service to you. Our mobile trailer will host free microchipping services every month across the city. Having your dog or cat microchipped is not only compulsory by law but is one of the best things you can do for your pet as it ensures council rangers can easily identify and return stray or lost animals in the event that they go missing. The first free mobile microchipping event at Toronto on 19 October is booked out, but keep an eye on lakemac.com.au for future events.
