The operation comes following an alarming increase in passenger deaths on the state’s roads this year.
Starting this week there will be more police on the roads with a focus on speeding, drink and drug-driving, mobile phone use, and people not wearing seatbelts.
NSW Police, along with the NSW Minister for Roads, Maritime and Freight Melinda Pavey and emergency service personnel, announced Operation Safe Arrival on Wednesday.
This year’s Christmas/New Year road safety enforcement campaign, called Don’t Let Safety Take a Backseat, is part of the overall operation during the holiday break.
