If you are interested in learning more about how to protect them, Newcastle City Council is rolling out frog-friendly workshops across the city during March.
The program kicks off with a Frogs of the Hunter talk and habitat walk on March 15, 6-8pm, at Elermore Vale Community Centre.
PhD candidate Chad Beranek will introduce attendees to many frog species that live in and around Newcastle. It will be followed by a walk along Ironbark Creek to see what can be heard and discovered.
Another workshop will cover building backyard frog habitat.
To find out about all the workshops or to book your spot email aweingott@ncc.nsw.gov.au or call 4974 2622.
