On Wednesday, the 99-year-old Redhead resident took a spin on the back of a 1600cc Boom Mustang trike.
For 45 minutes, dressed in her red quilted jacket, Mrs Bailey took in the coastal sights between Redhead, Dudley and Jewells. And she loved every minute of it.
A crowd of more than 20, including her daughters Brenda Merchant and Chris Williams, gathered at Whiddon Redhead, where Mrs Bailey is a resident, to see her off.
Fellow pillion passenger, Amy Bland, is also Mrs Bailey’s personal carer.
“As we pulled out of the drive, she asked to go faster,” Ms Bland said.
It was beautiful weather and Mrs Bailey had a smile on her face throughout the journey.
The desire to ride all began the previous Christmas when she sat on a Harley Davidson motorcycle, ridden by a person visiting a fellow resident.
“She enjoyed it so much, she didn’t want to get off,” Belinda Ackerman, of Whiddon Group said.
It was not the first time Mrs Bailey had felt the exhilaration of being on the back of a motorcycle, having taken a spin as a teenager.
Whiddon Group have recently introduced Best Week, part of the My Life Program, through which residents choose to undertake memorable experiences.
“She jumped at the idea,” Ms Bland said. “She kept asking to go faster.”
