Their round seven opponents, the Illawarra Steelers, are currently tied at the top of the table with the Cronulla Sharks and the Wests Tigers.
An 18-point defeat at the hands of the Tigers, and a 48-point shell-shock loss to the Sharks have left Newcastle trailing, and now the Steelers shape as their last chance to take points off teams above them on the ladder.
If the team can continue their momentum from the romping win over the Panthers before the bye, they may be in with a chance.
It will come down to attacking talents at the Collegians Sporting Complex, as the Steelers boast three of the top five leading tryscorers.
Lilly-Rose Bennett currently sits atop the table with 15 tries in six games, while Keeley Davis boasts 14 in the same.
Davis has also scored a total of 118 points across the season so far.
The Knights have their own key strike weapons however, as Eleanor Russell, Skye Pullman, Emily Harman and Shenay Ball have all found the try line multiple times in the season.
Just last match forward Caitlin Johnston also scored four against the Panthers, proving the Knights can find points from anywhere.
The seventh round clash will kick off from 11am on Saturday, March 24.
