Even with the heat it was standing room only on the lake, with the Pirtek Fishing Challenge bringing out hoards of fishos in near perfect conditions. A multitude of fish was caught and released with catches being able to be viewed on their website.
Some prawns have still been running on the dark of the moon last weekend however this should be the last until next summer.
Beach anglers have been picking up whiting and tailor on most beaches with the odd flathead showing up also. As we move towards the annual mullet run next month, we should also see some big Jew moving up and down local beaches with big slab baits fished after dark the preferred option.
Off shore fishos are still picking up mixed bags with the afternoon sessions proving to be the most fruitful. Broughton Island reefs continue to show the best snapper, with deeper reefs fishing better than the shallows at the moment. Game fishing is still running red hot, with stacks of baitfish around, the marlin should continue to bite well into May.
