Mullet schools are building at the entrances to most estuary systems but refuse to leave until the cold southwest changes hit. Sharks have been spotted at the Bay getting stuck into them prior to them running also.
Small tailor are showing up along the beaches, particularly Stockton and Blacksmiths with pilchards the preferred bait.
The big salmon schools should also start turning up once the weather cools down, usually after the mullet have run.
Some nice jew still holding in the lake as shown in picture of the week, with Swansea RSL Fishing Club member David Sykes nailing a great fish of around 15kg last week with reports of other captures around 8kg.
Squid are the No.1 bait for these guys however, Craig Walkcom continues to get daytime jew on large soft plastics throughout the lake recently also.
An often over looked fish is the leather jacket, which are being taken in good numbers on the rock walls either side of Swansea bridge.
They require a finer technique with light line and very small hooks fished with small baits with very little weight.
On the Water this Week:
Temperatures: great, 23 degrees
Visibility: very good
Moon: last quarter
Tides: low, 12 am/pm
