Dreams is the long-awaited musical union between Newcastle-bred Silverchair frontman, Johns, and Luke Steele from Empire Of The Sun.
The new track, Silence, follows Dreams’ debut song No One Defeats Us, which attracted a lukewarm reception when it was released last month.
Unlike No One Defeats Us, where Steele took the lead vocal, Johns dominates on Silence.
The pair were inspired to write the song after the Charlottesville riots in the US last year that claimed the life of one woman and injured 19 others when a car ploughed into a crowd. The people attacked were demonstrating against a far-right rally.
“It broke our hearts to see the violence and hatred that occurred,” Steele said. “We wanted this song to elevate the people, let their voices be heard, inspire them with courage and bravery.”
Dreams make their Australian live debut at the Sydney Opera House on May 29.
