Jack Lennon, Trent Thompson and Josh Murphy kicked three majors each in the Hawks’ 26-point victory in what marked a significant moment for the 2017 runner’s up.
“It’s the first time we’ve beaten Terrigal at home [at Terrigal] in eight years so it was an important day for us,” Hawks coach Nathan Harkness said.
The mentor said recent conjecture the Hawks were reliant on only a few players was put to bed in this performance, resulting in a 14.8 (92) to 9.12 (66) scoreline.
“There’s a school of thought out there that we’re only a three or four man team, but we’re absolutely not that,” Harkness said.
“Our major, gun representative players like captain Simon O’Brien and Tom Yensch weren’t even in our best players on Saturday.
“It was others guys who have been around the club for a while standing up, like Trent Thompson and Jack Lennon.”
