In a rematch of last year’s grand final, United went ahead early when Jamee Ellis scored from a trademark free kick around the 15-minute mark.
But Warners Bay levelled 10 minutes later when captain Nadja Squires converted a spot kick after Ellie Withers was ruled to have handballed in the box.
Katelyn Lyddiard gave the visitors a 2-1 lead at the break and Jets player Jenna Kingsley sealed the win early in the second half.
Warners Bay have the bye next weekend but will finish the first of three competition rounds leading the race for the minor premiership.
Carson McGovern scored a first-half brace and Tara Andrews and Georgia Amess found the back of the net in the second half as newcomers New Lambton seized third place on the ladder with a 4-0 win over Thornton at Thornton Park on Sunday.
The Eagles have taken points in all but one of their five outings since joining the WPL this year.
On Saturday, South Wallsend continued to recover from a slow start to the season when they strung together back-to-back wins by beating Adamstown 3-1 at Adamstown Oval.
Gabby Brodie scored goals in either half and former W-League player Olivia Kennedy also got on the scoresheet for the Wolves, who led 2-0 at the break.
They led 3-0 before Elodie Dagg netted a late goal for the home side.
Adamstown’s Kate Lindsay (knee) and captain Clare Cummings (head knock) were both forced from the field in the second half.
