A CROWD of over 400 people have paid their respects at a moving dawn service in Scone on the 103rd anniversary of the landing of Australian and New Zealand troops at Gallipoli.

The last post echoed around the Scone War Memorial Swimming Pool on Wednesday morning as ex-servicemen and women, students, SES members, police, NSW Ambulance Service members, NSW Rural Fire Service and Fire and Rescue members and Upper Hunter Shire councillors laid down their wreaths.
Honouring Australian’s service and sacrifice Scone RSL Sub-Branch president Val Quinell spoke of the great contribution of our servicemen and women.
“Anzac Day is extremely well supported in Scone and the crowds just get bigger and bigger every year,” he said.
As the sun rose across the Upper Hunter community members reflected on veterans and their families both past and present.
The dawn service will be followed by a march down Kelly Street at 10.45am.
A fly past of former military aircraft and remembrance service at the War Memorial at Barwick House, Kelly Street will commence at 11am.
