Representatives of live music venues, promoters, local artists, youth venues and council officials convened for the talk, which followed the live music roundtable held in February.
Mr Crakanthorp said a range of topics were discussed at the inaugural meeting.
“We talked about the role and structure of the taskforce, the terms of reference, driving change at three levels of government, we discussed the bones of a draft Newcastle live music plan, the parliamentary inquiry and the Newcastle hearing,” Mr Crakanthorp said.
“We got through quite a lot and it was successful.
“This is all about laying the foundations to drive change and engaging what all three levels of government can do to make sure live music in Newcastle thrives, and grows into the future.”
The taskforce has commenced a census of live music venues in Newcastle.
