The home side led 4.4.28 to 4.3.27 at the half-break, with competition points and an end to the Roosterettes’ three-in-four start in sight.

Singleton had other ideas at Hylton Moore Oval, as they stormed to a 42-point second half haul to swing the match.

“It took the team a little while to switch on, but I’m pleased to see they concentrated on their game in the second half,” Singleton coach Andrew MacPherson said of the comeback win.

“We re-grouped and came out in the third quarter firing, before a strong fourth quarter. When the girls played their style it clicked.”

Their second-half reverse came off the back of Brianna Howard’s hat-trick, two of which came in the final quarter after she opened her scoring in the first.

Captain Tori Cowburn was named best on field as she kicked two majors.

Nadene McBride also kicked a double for the Roosterettes, while Morgan Ross bagged two for the defeated Panthers in the first and second quarters.

Also on Saturday, Nelson Bay remained undefeated as Eliza Smyth and Jesse Jakubowski both kicked four against Lake Macquarie. The Dockers’ Emma-Jayne Howe scored a hat-trick.

Elsewhere, The Entrance Bateau Bay recorded their first win in the competition.

It was a 3-point victory after Port Stephens kicked six behinds in the last quarter, while an earlier double from Bethany Allars proved crucial for the competition points.

Georgia Butler kicked four in Killarney Vale’s 10-point win over the Cardiff Hawks to keep the Bombers in the top eight in the standings.

The Hawks were resurgent late on in the final quarter, but the Bombers held fast to retain their lead.

Brianna Morten, Taylah Wilks and Courtney Wotherspoon all kicked goals for Cardiff, while new-recruit sisters Eva and Minerva Bailey were named best on field for the travelling side at Adelaide Street Oval.

The Novas continued their unbeaten start with an 13.8.86 to 6.2.38 win over Maitland, with seven goals in the first quarter putting them in the driver’s seat early.

Kate Handley kicked four and Meaghan MacDonald added three, while Amy Worth kicked four for the Saints despite the eventual loss.

Wyong Lakes defeated Warners Bay 9.6.60 to 2.0.12, while the Newcastle City Stars streaked to a 106-point win over Muswellbrook off the back of six of the best from Sarah Halvorsen.

Wallsend-West Newcastle forfeited to Gosford.
