The finals regulars recorded their second win of the season with a 49-39 victory over Souths Pride, and assistant coach Janine Hobbs put it down to their “patient” style of play.

“[The team] stuck to what they knew, and moved that ball down the court very beautifully,” Hobbs said after the match.

After the 10-goal victory, Hobbs praised the offensive end of Forsythes’ court, as well as the team’s ability to play with “only seven fit”.

“We had eight players in total and having only seven fit players meant they did it tough,” she added. “[Souths] came out in that last quarter and came at us and it could have easily been a much closer gap.”

“I’m please with [the squad]. They stuck together and stayed calm. Testament to the girls.”

The standings moved more in the other games on the weekend, as Maryville climbed into third place with a 46-40 win over BNC Whanau, while Souths Lions easily accounted for Nova, 50-28.

Also in the later fixture, West Leagues Balance 1 came up against West Leagues Balance 2, with the 105-goal derby going the way of the league leaders and defending champions, 64-41.
