Lake Macquarie, Cessnock, Port Stephens, Great Manning /Myall Lakes and Muswellbrook all form the CDAT ‘super group’, and held their first meeting last Wednesday with focuses on ways to “strengthen the community” against local drug-related issues.
“The forum was an opportunity for Community Drug Action Teams to share new project ideas, form new partnerships or strengthen existing ones and hear about new support from the Alcohol and Drug Foundation,” said the ADF’s NSW/ACT State Manager Dr Lisa Simone.
“Community Drug Action Teams help their own communities make grassroots changes which promote healthy lifestyles and prevent harms caused by alcohol and other drugs.”
NSW is home to 71 CDATs, which are groups of passionate volunteers leading local alcohol and other drug harm prevention projects, aiming to build healthier communities.
The Alcohol and Drug Foundation, which manages the NSW Government funded CDATs, hosted the forum at Muswellbrook Regional Library.
