It was a close opening quarter at Adelaide St Oval, with Tonicah Eslick and Georgia Butler kicking a goal apiece for the home side, while Jasmine Mandy kicked what would eventually be half of the Tigers’ haul for the round.
It was a decisive second quarter from the Bombers that set the foundations for their victory, with Eslick scoring her second alongside a triple for the eventual five-star Page.
Already leading 37 to 7 as the second half began, Killarney Vale put the match out of sight for Gosford with another two goals, with Page boosting her tally to four and Natasha Gregory adding one of her own.
The final quarter saw the Tigers break their scoreless streak in the match off the boot of Helena Aubrey, but a fifth and final major for Page sealed the deal and moved the Bombers into fourth place to end the tenth round. Gosford’s second defeat in as many rounds sees them drop to sixth.
Elsewhere in the tenth round, Singleton challenged league leaders Newcastle City Stars, keeping the dominant inner-city squad to just 57 points over the course of the match.
Although the margin was eventually 44 points in the 8.9.57 to 2.1.13 match, the Roosterettes will still take positives from keeping the Stars’ key forwards to a lower count – Sarah Halvorsen scored four goals as the team’s only multiple scorer. Tori Cowburn and Hayley Frazer scored for Singleton.
In the north, Nelson Bay remained level at the top with a 30.19.199 to 0.0.0 win over neighbours Port Stephens, with an eighteen goal first half deciding the first ever derby between the two clubs.
Kaitlyn Douglass was key to the Marlins’ march to nearly 200 points, scoring eight for herself, while Kate Holland (five) and Jenna Affleck (four) added to the 30 goal haul.
In another wide margin on Saturday, Maitland kept The Entrance Bateau Bay scoreless while Sarah Burns put on a show for the home side, kicking six. She was joined by Hannah Centra, Taylor Quinton-Widl and Amanda Smith, all of whom bagged doubles for the Saints.
Wyong Lakes recorded a 16.11.107 win over Musellbrook, 1.0.6, while Newcastle City Novas left Terrigal Avoca with the competition points after an 8.9.57 victory against the Panthers, 0.1.1. Warners Bay also joined the winners circle after defeating Lake Macquarie 8.12.60 to 3.2.20 at Feighan Park. Rachel Evans and Amy Pittman scored twice each for the Bulldogs.
Finally, Cardiff were given the default win after Wallsend-West Newcastle forfeit due to play numbers.
