Canadian import Sammy Banga made his presence felt straight away for the Newcastle Northstars, scoring in both games of a double header at Hunter Ice Skating Stadium on the weekend.

In Banga’s first Australian Ice Hockey League appearance since arriving in the country on Thursday, the 25-year-old Northstars forward found the back of the net in the second term against Perth Thunder on Saturday and the first against Melbourne Ice on Sunday.
The Northstars posted mixed results in a their weekend double, losing in a shootout 4-3 to Perth but winning 3-2 against and embattled Ice outfit.
The results has seen the Northstars remain in fourth spot on the AIHL ladder behind Thunder, Sydney Ice Dogs and Canberra Brave.
The Northstars face the Ice Dogs twice this weekend – in Sydney on Friday and at HISS on Sunday.
