Last Friday US producer RL Grime was the first act announced for This That at Wickham Park on November 3 and on Tuesday organisers dropped more artists, which include 2015 triple j Hottest winners The Rubens, ARIA chart favourites Amy Shark and Illy, Safia, Boo Seeka and Thandi Phoenix.
US hip-hop star GoldLink, American producer Herobust, Maitland DJ Just A Gent, Samsaruh, Luude and Godlands complete the biggest line-up in This That’s four-year history.
But it was the announcement of Sydney five-piece Sticky Fingers which will likely attract the most attention.
The band has been seemingly black-listed by triple j since their train wreck interview on the youth radio station’s current affairs program, Hack, in April.
The interview was conducted to answer questions about two allegations of sexist and racist behaviour involving lead singer Dylan Frost in 2016 and the band’s subsequent 12-month hiatus.
The interview was slammed after Frost used the term “boys will be boys” and blamed his violent behaviour on alcohol abuse.
Despite the negative publicity, Sticky Fingers remain one of Australia’s most popular indie bands and their songs How To Fly and Australia Street have clocked up more than 24 million Spotify streams.
Their fourth album is expected to be released prior to This That.
