Linda Dipper and Ray Kochel, the business owners, have confirmed they will take part in the festival of foods as members of the Flavours of NSW stand, alongside the NSW Department of Industry.
Dipper and Kochel bought the Readhead-based business two years ago, and Dipper explained her existing passion for Indigenous foods has only blossomed since the move.
“I am so excited to share Australian natives. I cannot yell it loud enough, what this country has for too long ignored or, more than likely, not known about,” she said. “I feel it's my job to fix that - in the Newcastle Hunter Valley area at least.”
“Everything we use comes from the wild and is harvested by Indigenous communities.”
In the Star’s recent news
Oz Tukka started selling native Australian spices and oils in 2003, well before they became a buzz word in culinary circles.
Despite being around for more than fifteen years, Dipper and Kochel’s plans with the business have seen it grow into an international sensation, and Parliamentary Secretary for the Hunter Scot MacDonald believes its a major “feather in the cap” for the local producers.
“Selection for the NSW Government stand is a major feather in the cap for this outstanding local producer and for our regional food and beverage industry,” he said.
“Fine Food Australia attracts 1,000 plus exhibitors from over 60 countries as well as more than 20,000 visitors so this will be a unique chance to promote our produce to potential domestic and international markets.
“As well as helping to grow sales, attendance at Fine Food Australia enables producers to network with industry leaders on the latest trends and consumer preferences to stay ahead of the game.”
