Newcastle’s Scene & Heard music festival has joined the support of farmers struggling through drought conditions across New South Wales by founding ‘A Farmers Day Out’ – an assistance initiative that includes 100 free event tickets.

As well as the ticket giveaway, which will take the form of fifty double pass offerings available by application lottery online, the festival’s organisers will also be accepting donations at the gates for the Buy A Bale charity.
Helping farmers is a cause particularly close to many of the festival organisers’ hearts, a spokesperson for the management group revealed, with some even having family members who operate rural businesses.
“There will be an online ballot to let the farmers have a chance for a free double pass,” the spokesperson explained. “We just want to give them a ‘day off’ if they can get away from the farm, something to take their minds off everything that has been happening.”
“We’ve seen studies that live music events reduce stress levels, so we want to offer that and just have a getaway weekend. Hopefully it shows them that everyone in the towns and cities are thinking about them.”
