Fronditha Care works hard at cultivating that important relationship.

In September, residents of Fronditha Care’s Newcastle aged care facility and their loved ones will be guests of honour at a special Family Luncheon fundraiser.

The Hippocrates Australian Greek Aged Persons Association will host the event, welcoming the elderly guests with open arms and encouraging them to take part in the festivities.

The Association and Fronditha Care’s residents have always been very close, quite literally situated next door to each other and connected by a covered walkway.

Residents are invited to the Association’s hall where they host weekly bingo games and coffee.

The partnership goes back to when the nursing home was first constructed in 2011, and the facility goes by the name HIPPOCRATES.

The Family Luncheon Fundraiser will be a chance for the residents to mingle with their family and the greater Newcastle community, while also nibbling on a buffet of scrumptious Greek food and sweets.

A special blessing by the local Greek Orthodox priest will also open festivities and Greek dancing groups will provide entertainment.

The event will also aim to raise funds for those affected by the deadly Greek Wild Fires this month.

Hippocrates Association president Anna Marendy says a nursing home in the affected area was badly damaged, but thankfully the residents all survived.

She hopes the proceeds of the event will help give the elderly residents of that home some normality again.

The event will be held on September 30, at 11:15am, and will feature a buffet meal, drinks and entertainment.
