Living Smart is Lake Macquarie’s biggest sustainability festival, which demonstrates to residents and visitors how they can live well while treading gently on our precious plant.
This year’s event will feature farmers markets, urban farming workshops, sustainable fashion stalls, cooking demonstrations and other workshops.
New to Living Smart is Feast for the Senses, an outdoor dinner at Speers Point Park prepared with fresh, sustainable local farm-gate produce by acclaimed Hunter Valley chef, Jimmy Kerr. Guests will be encouraged to wear recycled fashion for the occasion, on Friday 21 September.
Another festival highlight will be the appearance of War on Waste host Craig Reucassel among our guest presenters. The popular ABC series has lifted a lid on our throwaway society and got us all thinking twice about our wasteful habits.
The mass yoga class is also likely to be a big hit, with hundreds of enthusiasts are expected to bend and stretch their way to wellness. The free class, suitable for all ages and skill levels, will begin at 8am on Saturday 22 September
