The relationship begun after 123 Agency’s Jimmy Kleiner discovered the four-piece after the release of their single Something More in February. The band’s breakout performance at Maitland’s Groovin’ The Moo in April then solidified the deal.
“We just want to play shows as much as we can, and bigger shows,” Split Feed guitarist Will St Claire said. “So it’s going to make it so much easier having the connection through 123 and all those other bands that we can link up with.”
To mark the union Split Feed have released a new single Homesick, the heaviest track the band has written. St Claire said it’s a natural progression.
“All of our biggest inspirations have been the heavier-sounding bands and we’ve always wanted to do it and now we understand how to make it work and [frontman] Joey [Willis] is writing lyrics that mean more and can relate to the heavier style more,” he said.
Split Feed launch Homesick at the Cambridge Hotel on November 16.
Bitter & Twisted
It is labelled as a beef festival but is fast becoming known for its ability to put on a mighty fine weekend of music.
Bitter & Twisted returns to Maitland Gaol on November 3 and 4. The weekend will feature The Last Dinosaurs, Hot Potato Band and The Sea Gypsies among other acts on the Saturday.
Sunday’s entertainment is headlined by Cloud Control and Bob Evans with support from Lachlan X Morris and Megan Core. Tickets to the Saturday have sold out though there’s still an opportunity to secure a pass to Sunday’s festivities. Visit www.bitterandtwisted.com.au for more information.
Double the fun
It will be a big weekend for entertainment on November 3 and 4 with This That and Scene & Heard set to have Newcastle rockin’ and rollin’.
This That will kick things off at Wickham Park on Saturday featuring RL Grime, The Rubens, Amy Shark, Boo Seeka, Broods, Illy and Safia leading the long list of talent.
The following day will see Scene & Heard take revellers on a journey back a decade or two (or three) with the likes of The Living End, Something for Kate, Spiderbait, Sneaky Sound System, Killing Heidi and more.
The event’s organisers say the inaugural festival is ‘dedicated to the emergence of the live music scene of the 90’s and naughties’. Final release tickets top both festivals are still on sale.
