It is the first time that the World Surf League event will be held in Lake Mac, so it is an incredible opportunity to share our amazing location with the rest of the world.
It is also exciting for our young surfers, like Redhead local Connor Lee, who will compete as a wildcard against 64 of the world’s best junior male surfers. A total of 32 female competitors will also hit the waves and compete for equal prizemoney.
I encourage everyone to get down to Redhead Beach this Saturday and Sunday and enjoy the high-level surfing and atmosphere. Council has also organised a range of free activities as part of the two-day event, including markets in Webb Park and skateboard workshops in the Redhead Beach car park. SCAM SAFE
Fraudsters are getting more crafty with their scams. Determining the legitimacy of email and online scams can often be difficult, especially when they look like they have come from well-known organisations.
Council is providing free fraud and scam safety workshops for over 55s on February 22, March 22 and April 12. Details: lakemac.com.au/over55s or contact council on 4921 0333.
