THE latest production from the Young People's Theatre (YPT) will take you on an adventure as animal characters escape from New York City's Central Park Zoo.

The production of Madagascar JR is a journey into the madcap world of King Julien, Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe, Gloria the hip hip Hippo and, of course, those hilarious, plotting penguins.

And of course, it will feature the hit song I like to Move It.

Madagascar JR showcases 70 of YPT's most talented students. It is directed by Harold Phipps, musical direction is by Freya Meredith, choreography is by Chelsea Willis with assistance from  Kirrilee Davies and Alice Hollott.

Madagascar - A Musical Adventure JR opens on April 15 and runs until May 25 for a total of 18 performances, that run for 65 minutes each, with a 20 minute interval.

It will be staged at the YPT Theatre, corner of Lindsay and Lawson Streets, Hamilton.

Tickets are available at: ypt.org.au/bookings.

They can also be bought by calling 4961 4895 between 9am-1pm on Saturdays.
