Competing with surfers for waves, leaping out of the water and flipping over other members of the pod, the dolphins entertained not only themselves, but also those watching from the shore.
Newcastle photographer Peter Lorimer was one of those watching on, capturing their performance in this series of pictures.
While the water temperature off the Hunter coast is still around 21 degrees, the region's run of beach weather may be finally coming to an end.
Instead, after a dry start to autumn, some welcome showers are finally on the way across the Hunter.
Clear skies are expected to return to the region this week.
