Takka: 10 weeks, Staffordshire terrier X
Meet sweet, little Takka. This 10-week-old Staffordshire terrier-cross puppy came to DRN with a missing front paw but nothing stops this little guy from enjoying every minute of life.
A vet has assessed Takka as being a very healthy pup.
Takka is full of life and love, good with other dogs and children. Cats are an unknown but it would depend on the cat. Takka will grow up to be a medium dog. We always recommend puppy-training classes to give your new family member the best start in life. All dogs and puppies need plenty of affection, exercise, and training.
Takka certainly doesn't think he is different at all. As a matter of fact he is right out there with other dogs, loves playing, rumbling and running into the water with his "sister" Cookie and the rest of the dogs in the house. A home with another good natured dog would be ideal as he loves to play.
Takka is used to children and other dogs but be warned he can still dig with his front paws and does all the things that puppies do such as turning over bins and chewing socks!
He has been surprisingly quick to toilet train and should have very few accidents in the future. Takka needs to be welcome inside when people are home, and to sleep inside at least until fully grown. He will be wonderful family dog and is suitable for children eight years and older.

Gemma: 4 years, border collie X
This lovely girl is Gemma. She is a four-year-old border collie cross who looks just like a larger version of a border collie, weighing in at 32kg.
Her mix of border collie with an unknown source has resulted in a very relaxed, cuddly lap dog. This girl is a chilled out homebody who enjoys lying about the house and yard. Oh and she looooves water! Give this girl a pool or dam and she will entertain herself.
Gemma is a very quiet dog and will not bark unless she senses an intruder. She has learnt to sit for food and has good recall. As Gemma has a tendency to jump up to say 'hello' so ongoing training would be recommended. Being that she is very food oriented, she would respond well to treat-related training.
Gemma's perfect situation would be with someone who has no other dogs. While Gemma currently lives and has grown up with another border collie, she is protective and wary of any new dogs. She is not suited to pocket pets or cats either.
Gemma's lovable nature means she enjoys cuddles, pats and shadowing her humans around the house and yard. As she is very human orientated, she would make the ideal companion or family dog. She has been around children as young as two and is very loving and trusting to everyone she meets.
Gemma is toilet trained and will need to go to a home where she is included inside when her family are home. She would be suitable in a household of full-time workers as she is low energy and won't dig, jump or try to escape. She is happy to lie around the yard and chill out on a comfy bush while her owners are at work.
