Now in remission and living with all new purpose, Ms Baus, who works as a clairvoyant/medium and intuitive development coach, is hoping to inspire others to stay on top of their health - in body, mind and spirit - which is why she has organised the Live Your Light expo.
The expo, to be held in Merewether in July, will include workshops, stalls, demonstrations and talks on mediumship, healings, kinesilology, hypnotherapy and natural therapies, amongst others.
"There is no event like this in Newcastle and its something that, after going through my cancer journey and fighting for my life with Hodgkins Lymphoma, I really want to bring awareness to a larger scale of people about taking time out for themselves," Ms Baus said.
"It's so important to learn how to nourish your mind, body and soul."
The born-and-bred Novocastrian was working in a 9-to-5 job in Sydney, coincidentally in an oncology practice, when she was diagnosed with cancer in 2016.
An naturally intuitive person, Ms Baus said the diagnosis initiated a "spiritual awakening".
After completing her treatment in Sydney, Ms Baus returned home to Newcastle and developed her mediumship business.
"Cancer really woke me up," she said. "It woke me up to what's important in life and I want to bring that awareness to others.
"I'm a big believer in you thoughts attracting your reality. I'll be speaking at the expo about my cancer journey, the art of manifestation, and how to live your best life."
Since initiating the Live Your Light expo, Ms Baus said she has received overwhelming support from the public and others in the community who are keen to take part.
While it does not surprise her that an event such as Live Your Light would prove to be popular, having seen firsthand how interested people are in learning more about and connecting with spirituality and natural therapies, she said it had buoyed her and made her felt like she was on the right path.
"The response I've had has been wonderful," she said. "It made me confident that this is needed."
Ms Baus said the Newcastle expo is modelled on the popular Mind Body Spirit Festival staged in Sydney each year. However, it will be on a smaller scale with its own unique Newcastle flavour.
There will be more than 50 stallholders to visit throughout the day-long expo, plus free talks and workshops.
"Anything you're looking for you'll find," Ms Baus said.
"Whether you want to be educated on natural therapies, just sit back and relax, or be part of psychic readings, there's something for you.
"It's going to be an inspiring day."
The Live Your Light expo will be held at Souths Merewether on Saturday, July 21 from 10am to 5pm.
The cost to enter is $10. However, once inside, the talks and workshops are free to attend.
