The plant is one of the most advanced facilities of its kind in Australia and is equipped to process plastic bags, recycled glass and printer toner that will be used in their Reconophalt road base product.
I was able to see first-hand some of the cutting-edge infrastructure that will help make this all happen - it's a fantastic outcome for our region.
It is also great that local organisations, like Downer, share our sustainability goals.
In fact, in the past 12 months in Lake Mac, we've seen the introduction of recycled glass sand in council's civil works, a trial of recycled materials in concrete footpaths and now this is the next step in our war on waste.
Our city is fast creating a name for itself in the innovation space and it is wonderful that we are able to attract these businesses to our region.
We've been working hard with Dantia and our other partners, to ensure our city is leading the way with infrastructure and technology investment initiatives that improve the city's liveability.
