As part of the "Pawgust" challenge, dog walkers will gather at Alexandra Gardens on Saturday for a pat and chat with dog owners and their four-legged friends.
The event encourages Melburnians to bring their own dogs to the park between 10am and 12pm for morning doggie fun.
Owners are also being challenged to walk their dogs for 30 minutes a day for 30 days, to help promote the importance of guide dogs and their help to those living without sight.
Participants will stroll the gardens with their pooch and new friends while also joining fun activities at the park's entertainment hub.
The statewide campaign is helping to promote better health for both the pets and their owners, while raising funds to support guide dogs.
Similar walking events are also planned across the country.
