It has been a while coming, so I was so happy to finally get to turn the first sod on the project with Concetta Fierravanti-Wells. It signals the start of the 820m road extension that will link Glendale with Cardiff's industrial estate, significantly improving connectivity around the city's northern and western suburbs.
The north-west part of our city offers us a rare opportunity to deliver a major piece of urban development that will create a liveable place for residents and business. The extension of the road is integral to the future development of the area, and it will help unlock business investment, commercial development and housing opportunities, which will support growth. It's an exciting time for the area and with more than 800 new homes and 20 additional hectares of employment-generating land, identified adjacent to Munibung Road it's clear to see the benefits the project provides.
It has taken a lot of work to get to this point and I want to acknowledge the Australian government's patience and the support of the NSW government to reach a solution. We're now working with the Hunter and Central Coast Development Corporation and interested developers to realise the full potential of this site.
