Poor air quality throughout last week, as a result of bushfires plaguing much of NSW, threatened to throw a cloud over the event but the annual run managed to go ahead around the Newcastle foreshore, with favourable conditions to boot.
Event organiser Paul Humphreys described it as the most fun of all the so-called "fun runs" held around the region with participants donning Santa suits and white beards.
"It's a novelty fun run and everyone has a good time," Mr Humphreys said.
Around 500 people of all ages and abilities took part in the five and 10-kilometre courses which start and finish at The Station and take in Newcastle's foreshore.
The popular event served as a fundraiser for Variety - the Children's Charity (NSW & ACT) the supports kids who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs.
