Christmas is a wonderful time of the year to spend with our loved ones and a great opportunity to look back on what we've achieved in the last 12 months.
Our city is going through a monumental shift, not just in terms of growth and development, but in the realisation of the many opportunities Lake Macquarie has to offer business, innovation, recreation and lifestyle for residents.
Looking back over the past year, the council invested $109 million in capital works, including a third of this figure on improving our roads and transport. Significant projects at our facilities have also seen upgrades to the Museum of Art and Culture, Lake Mac Libraries, Toronto Swim Centre, Belmont Baths and at Awaba Waste Management Facility.
As a community we love to celebrate and this year we added the Belmont Beers and Blues Festival to our line-up of major events.Thank you to everyone who joined me in celebrating our City at the Living Smart Festival, Float Your boat, Lake Mac Superboats and the Lake Mac Carols this year.
This Christmas I encourage you to spend quality time with your family and loved ones. Stay safe, particularly if you are travelling this holiday season.
