Juniors president Chris Grieve said Tiny Tahs is for children in Kindergarten to Year 2 age group.
"We've had a lot of interest from club supporters to run an intra-club rugby format on Saturday mornings where very young children can learn ball skills and running techniques in a team atmosphere," Grieve said.
"We start our Junior pre-season training sessions February 4 at 5pm at Waratah Oval No.2 ground and although Tiny Tahs will not start playing until the first Saturday in May, any potential player is invited to come and attend an early training session."
The Tahs are aiming to field teams in Under 8s, Under 9s, Under 10s, Under 11s, Under 12s and Under 15s in the Hunter Junior Rugby Union competition.
"The first junior team from The Waratahs ran onto the field in 1940 and we are therefore celebrating our 80th anniversary in 2020," Grieve said.
"The coming season represents a great year to be involved with The Waratahs and all age groups are open to both male and female players."
He added that potential players and parents who required more information are invited to attend a training session on any Tuesday or contact the club through email thewaratahsjuniorrugbyunion@gmail.com, The Waratahs Junior Rugby Club Facebook page or via thewaratahsrugbyunionclub.com.
