The league's competition committee said that it endorsed continuing with the super shot after reviewing data and other sources which explored the rule change.

Shooters can score double points from a designated zone at the back of the goal circle in the final five minutes of each quarter.

Former Australia coach Lisa Alexander and Diamonds captain Caitlin Bassett are among opponents of the tactic, saying it's too similar to basketball.

Bassett is opting to play in New Zealand next year, where the rule isn't used.

But Super Netball boss Chris Symington said it creates another element of excitement for fans.

"We saw on numerous occasions this season how the Super Shot along with the new Power 5, added another element of excitement to our game," Symington said.

"What also became clear is that it could be used by teams as little or as much as they liked to suit their style of play.

"With a full pre-season ahead and the opportunity to practice and prepare over a longer period of time, it will be fascinating to see how the players and teams adapt their game plans to suit these rules heading into next year."

Discussions regarding extended squad lists are ongoing with a decision expected prior to the end of the four-week contracting window, which started on Monday.

It is yet to be determined if the bonus-point rule, that was in play for seasons 2018 and 2019, will return in 2021, with a decision to be made in December.
