You know the sort, they invariably happens at Budget time - when all but the most boring detail is magically leaked before the big announcement. Or maybe a whopper-stopper announcement is held back so you don't get all disappointed at missing out on something that's meant to "a big deal". It's all par for the course in these days of a 24-7 news cycle.
Regardless, Victoria is waiting for Sunday again (that's when all the "announcements" come in the Garden State). While not going into detail about what rules will be changed, Premier Daniel Andrews said he expected them to remain in place for a number of months.
A day later on Monday, NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian will unveil how she will relax a number of coronavirus restrictions. She hasn't been quite so coy and (gasp) details of new rules have been shared widely.
Many of the changes revolve around social distancing but there are still some businesses which will not be opening up quite yet. Yes, we're looking at you gyms and nightclubs.
In the national capital today a bomb detection robot was put to good use in the CBD. The threat was examined and a man is helping police with their inquiries.
The metaphorical bomb dropped by China on Twitter earlier this week has been declared a "new low" by the United States. China's hypocrisy was "obvious to all", the US State Department said of the foreign ministry spokesman's tweet which included a picture of an Australian soldier holding a bloodied knife to the throat of an Afghan child.
Meanwhile in the US, Attorney General William P. Barr said the Justice Department has uncovered no voting fraud "on a scale that could have effected a different outcome in the election". Given Mr Barr's previous staunch support for President Donald Trump, this may be a political death knell of sorts.
But who knows how Mr Trump will react? Best keep some eyes on Twitter - for the pre-announcement announcement, of course!
