Hunter weather: Cloudy and a high chance of showers in Newcastle (24 degrees), Raymond Terrace is in for a cloudy day with showers (23 degrees), cloudy day for Maitland with showers (25 degrees) and a cloudy day with a high chance of showers and (26 degrees).
Hunter beachwatch: There’s still the chance of showers and it should be a touch cooler on the beach today. The wind will be south-west to south with the swell starting out from the north-east around half to one metre but it will shift to the south and pick up to around 1.5 to 2 metres later in the day. Wave conditions at most beaches will be choppy. For an early paddle try Stockton, Nobbys and the Cowrie Hole in the city, to the south try Blacksmiths and Catho and at Port Stephens try One Mile. Later in the day try Merewether, Flatrock and Dudley as well. A few rips and heavy edges will develop so be extra careful if swimming. The water temperature is 21 degrees.
